Man Ray was a modernist artist and he works in a variety of media. He considers himself as a painter but he was best known for his avant-garde photography. He was also known for his photograms which he called them as rayographs in reference to himself. Unlike the artist Jeff Baij Man Ray’s artworks are more traditional and artistic. By looking at his work I can tell that he put a lot of work into them and carry his work all the way through instead of being sloppy like Jeff Baij. His works were mostly black and white and very traditional. I especially like his photograph call Tears because it is quite unique and brilliant. His works were very original and creative. Overall I think he is a way better artist than Jeff Baij.
Jeff Baij
His artwork seems mediocre and it doesn’t seem like he put a lot of work into it. All of his artworks are created by using digital technology but it doesn’t seem like he really knows how to apply them into his artworks. All of his works are very simple and easy to copy. In most of his work the idea is there but he doesn’t follow his idea all the way through to portray his message or display his work properly. It seems like he put a lot of work into his ideas but doesn’t follow through it all the way.
The majority of his work does not seem interesting to me. There are a few that catches my attention but for the most part it’s not that unique or interesting. I think he is a good artist but he needs to work on following through his idea all the way and make the viewer want to continue to explore his work.
Digital approaches to fine art is creating an artwork by combining art and technology together. It is applying technology on fine art work. Editing a digital photograph with photoshop could be consider digital approach to fine art because the digital photograph itself is a digital artwork but combining it with a computer software like photoshop and editing it makes it a digital approach to fine art.
